Navy PRT Calculator (2026 PFA Standards)

Enter your age, sex, push-ups, plank time, and one cardio result. The calculator scores each event on the Navy's PRT tables, checks the Probationary minimum, and shows your overall average and category, at sea level or above 5,000 feet.

Unofficial estimate. Your score of record is in your service's system.

How each PRT event is scored

The Physical Readiness Test has three events, done in this order on the same day: push-ups, the forearm plank, and one cardio event. Each event is scored on twelve levels, from Outstanding High at 100 points down to Probationary at 45, using the tables for your sex and age group.

A result below Probationary is a failure for that event. The levels sit five points apart, and the guide lists no scores between them.

The Probationary minimum for every age

The PRT is passed when every event reaches Probationary or better. Failing any one event fails the whole PRT, even if the other two are Outstanding. The table below lists the Probationary result for push-ups, the plank, and the 1.5-mile run at sea level, by age group.

For men aged 17 to 19, Probationary takes 42 push-ups, a 1:11 plank, and a 12:45 run. For women of the same age, it takes 19 push-ups, a 1:01 plank, and a 15:00 run.

How the overall PRT score is set

Guide-5A defines the overall PRT score as the category that corresponds to the average of your event points. The calculator shows that average exactly, then the highest level that does not exceed it. Three events at 85, 60, and 60 average 68.33, which falls in Good Medium.

The guide does not print a rounding rule for the average, so treat the category as an estimate. Your official score is the one entered in PRIMS from your scoresheet.

Cardio events the calculator scores

The standard cardio event is the 1.5-mile run. Commands may also allow a 2,000-meter row on a Concept 2 rower, a 500-yard or 450-meter swim, a treadmill, or a stationary bike, at the commanding officer's discretion. The calculator scores the run, the row, and both swims.

The treadmill and bike are left out. The Guide-5A tables have no treadmill column, and bike standards depend on the bike model and calorie output in the Navy's official PFA app. Row times are rounded to the nearest second, with half a second rounded up.

PRT standards above 5,000 feet

The Navy defines increased elevation as more than 5,000 feet above sea level, and Table 4-2 sets separate standards there. Push-ups and the plank use the same numbers at any elevation. Only the cardio times change, and every one of them is slower at altitude.

For men aged 20 to 24, Outstanding High on the 1.5-mile run is 8:30 at sea level and 9:15 above 5,000 feet. Probationary moves from 13:30 to 14:45.

Two PFA cycles a year

NAVADMIN 264/25 returned the Navy to two Physical Fitness Assessment cycles per year, starting in 2026: Cycle 1 from 1 January to 30 June, and Cycle 2 from 1 July to 31 December. Each assessment combines the body composition assessment with the PRT.

Sailors in combat arms ratings take the Combat Fitness Assessment instead of a PFA in Cycle 2. Under Guide-1, active-duty Sailors who fail three assessments in the most recent four years are processed for administrative separation.

The high-performance body composition exemption

Sailors who exceed the body fat limit can still pass the PFA if they score an overall Outstanding Low or higher on the PRT and no event lower than Excellent Medium. The body composition result is still recorded as not within standards, and the Sailor must join the Fitness Enhancement Program.

The exemption is not available if any PRT event was medically waived. The calculator flags when your scores meet both conditions.

Results between two table levels

The tables list one standard for each level. If your result falls between two of them, the calculator gives you the points of the best level you met: a 10:40 run for a man aged 20 to 24 scores 70 points, because 10:30 is needed for 75.

Guide-5A does not print a separate rule for results between levels, so this follows the plain reading of the table, the same rule this site uses for every service.
