About ArmedForcesBenefits.org

ArmedForcesBenefits.org is an independent reference site. It turns U.S. military fitness scoring tables and pay tables into calculators and charts, and it links every number back to the document it came from.

What this site covers

The site covers two subjects: physical fitness test scoring for the Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force, and military basic pay. Every calculator reads its numbers from a data table copied from a published order, directive, scoring chart, or pay table, and every page lists those documents by number and date.

The site does not cover VA disability ratings, Basic Allowance for Housing by ZIP code, or individual career advice. For those, the agencies that issue them are the right starting point.

Who runs it

The site is edited by Mark Ellison, an independent editor who collects and checks published military fitness and pay documents. He is not a service member, a recruiter, or a financial adviser, and the site does not speak for any branch of the military or any government agency.

Questions and corrections go to the address on the contact page.

How the numbers are checked

Each table starts from a primary source: an Army directive, a Marine Corps order or MARADMIN, an Air Force manual and its scoring charts, or a DFAS pay table. The table is stored as data with the document name, link, effective date, and the date it was last checked. Calculators are tested against values read directly from the source tables before any page goes live.

The full method is on the editorial policy page, and every document in use is listed on the sources page.

History of this domain

Earlier, this domain hosted a different site called "The Armed Forces Benefits Organization." This site has no connection to that organization, does not use its name or materials, and has not restored any of its old pages. A few old addresses, such as the pay calculator, now show this site's own pages on the same topic.

Your score and pay of record

Nothing here is an official score or an official pay statement. Your score of record comes from your service's fitness system, and your pay comes from your Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) on myPay. If a number here disagrees with a document your unit or finance office gives you, the document wins, and the editor would like to hear about it.
